Are you going to **** the EVE Online sandbox over for Monetary Transactions or not? If not, all is forgiven. If MTs are going to impact the sandbox, start printing your resumes and god help you all.
The designs we will implement in game will not **** over the sandbox.
We need to know what's coming, MT wise. Are any non-vanity items going to appear in that store? What are these designs you speak of?

This. This needs an answer NOW.
^
Yes it certainly does. A straight yes/no style answer, not a carefully spun answer that leaves the possibility open.

I have to wonder if they simply can't answer no, and are now trying to best word a reply to allow them to do so later.

I *really* don't want to see this game go the way of SWG. I still have bad memories from that. The lack of CCP replies for so long is unsettling, and if they answer anything other than the big yellow question, I think many people will be disturbed. Myself included.

I think whoever leaked that document deserves a huge THANK YOU for forcing this issue. If this situation is turned around and CCP leaves the destructive path they are on, I think it would not be an exaggeration to say that they saved EVE.
I just hope we can get that kind of result.

Personally I love Incarna, however a lot of people would at the very least be given the option to have their old "ship spin" interface so I have an idea. A tiered CQ, where when you dock, it starts off looking just like it did, functioning just like it did with one addition - the button to move to the other tier (I say tier in a hierarchical sense) where the camera begins to pan out from the first tier where you realize the old style "ship spin" UI was just that - a screen on your station monitor or similar.
So basically you dock, everything is how it used to be, until you click the button to "log out" of the ship spin UI which backs off and reveals it was just a screen on your wall in your CQ where you are now moving around the Incarna content. This I think gives the players wanting the old back exactly what they want, while not stepping all over Incarna in the process and still link them together in a way that wont seem like two completely different games to players of either preference.
I have included an image of a very quick paint storyboard to help visualize Make Everyone Happy
Take it or leave it, thats my idea on the topic.
This... Is excellent. Just excellent.

Amazingly elegant idea!
Were it not for the fact that the CQ is raping my video card (see the sig for my explination) I would agree. I still prefer the Dock + Disembark button.
From my understanding, this is basically the same thing. You start with the station view exactly as it used to be, but with an extra station button that will load the new Captains Quarters and "pan back" from a video screen.

Originally by: Joe Astor I have been reading the threadnaught, and read the leaked PDF. Far as I can see, the part Soundwave posted in it was part of a debate.
The problem is that prior to that debate CCP had already committed to one position - and that's the one championed by John Turbefield.
The idea to sell faction standings is not part of Soundwave's opinion piece, it's part of Holden's article and it is explicitly framed as a "service we are looking at" and "CCP is in the process of adopting virtual sales..." - it's not just one man's crazy pipedream.
From the same article is the quote
Quote: Not all virtual purchases will focus on customization: some will simply be new items, ammunition, ships, etc. that can be purchased outright.
These people are the Lead Game Designer (Soundwave) and the Lead Content Creator (Scott Holden) for EVE. Their words carry weight.
CCP is discussing options that they could never implement without breaking promises they made to their customers.
That's why many posters here are raging about "trust".
fakeedit: and my previous post was serious - stop talking about "vanity items" or CCP will screw you over with "services".
Very good point, I don't want to see any services in there either. If they promise no non-vanity items and use that to get technical and release "services", that could be just as bad.

Originally by: CCP Pann As I see it, the chief complaint is regarding the high cost of goods in the Nobel Market. Second, many people are unhappy about the CaptainÆs Quarters. Third, there are some performance issues with Incarna.
you need glasses
what about the outright lies about MT as revealed in the leaked pdf? selling faction? selling weapons? selling ships?
You really didn't read the whole op did you? It was an internal memo/assignment that required them to respond to MT in an outlandish and over the top marketing sense in order to understand internally what was acceptable and what wasn't. I mean come on, I don't really think that they would sell ships through MT that had 10/10/10 slot layout. Ok if they want to sell ships through MT that have special paint jobs who gives a damn.
They are vanity items. Let CCP generate money on MT if people want to buy them. Who gives a rats @ss. TBH I don't even give a damn if they want to do MT for non vanity items as long as my hard earned ISK can be converted to plex and then to AUR.
Why does no one seem to get it, CCP is not forcing anyone to buy anything to play the game other than your regular subscription. Nor are they asking anyone to suddenly have to pay hard cash to undock their ships or any of the other absolutely ludicrous garbage that I've read in this thread.
Everything in game can still be had through regular old ISK. They want to introduce +10 implants in the AUR market?, let em, I'll just convert the isk I earned IN GAME over and buy them. If people want to put out hard cash for them fine, let em buy some plex rather than isk from some bot farmer. You wanna buy pants, go for it. You don't want to buy pants? Don't and please shut up.
Who gives a crap about monocles and digital shirts. Only thing im upset about is not being able to spin my ship and having to open up the damn ship hanger to check my cargo hold.
There are plenty of things that need to be fixed as far as spaceships are concerned and as I see it all this crying over nothing is getting in the way of that. A lot of people really wanted Incarna and CCP is finally giving you the first taste, it's not the whole package but it's one hell of a start. Not only that buy we will have a first in the MMO genre when DUST comes out. I mean what more could you possibly want. Please stop posting this nonsense.
And I thought I should mention that I do have CQ turned off atm because I find it a distraction from flying my ship. When there is more content in station and tasks that could possibly increase my isk earning potential I will probably turn it back on.
-Tau
I cannot believe there are still people like this who fail to understand why this is such a bad thing.

Originally by: Sniperdoc Simply put, if CCP starts selling ANYTHING that is not a vanity item, and it gives players an advantage in the game, I will quit both my accounts. I'm a paying customer, I don't plex my accounts, I play on occasion. For CCP to introduce game changers as a purchasable item in game is asinine. I busted my ass to get my faction standing to 10 with Cal Navy. In the future some well to do guy can just buy it?
This game is taking a turn for the worse and I will not pay to see it go even further down the Sh!tter.
By then it's to late, isn't it. Besides, this is just words, talk, and talking the talk means less to CCP. Actions are more important. You want to be heard? Cancel today.
Exactly. Everybody that hasn't unsubbed and is unhappy with all this needs to hit the button. If they reverse direction, then come back. It's really the best way to influence change.

Edit: Can I have your stuff?
I would rather EVE burn than die a slow death as non-vanity items keep it going as long as possible. SWG is dying December 15th. It dragged on in its sorry state for far too long.

Unfortunately the devblog does not say no gameplay-affecting items. It says there are no plans for gameplay-affecting items. Look at what they said one year ago, as has been posted so many times already.

"We do not have plans to go microtransaction with EVE."
One year later, we have an microtransaction store.
I do not deny that this is progress, but it still fails to give me any real confidence. My account stays unsubbed until at least after the CSM meeting.
